what remains

My paternal grandfather, whom I never met, was an architect and built my dad’s family home in the Philippines when he was young. Earlier this week, we went to see the old house. Sadly, it has been modified beyond recognition and the neighborhood isn’t so great anymore. One thing that does remain of the original property is that wrought iron fence my dad is leaning on as my sister takes his photo.

  1. It’s sad the way the world moves on sometimes. A house is a link to someone gone. For a moment your able to see the life they wished for themselves. I’m sorry to see there wasn’t more of it, Jenny.

  2. What a shame. It’s such a disappointment when a design which once suited someone else’s needs doesn’t match another’s.

Luckily, there was a remnant for you to capture.

    I’m sorry, too.

  3. Glad you have the photos. Places never stay the same or stay the way you remembered.

  4. being face to face with that kind of change does suck. thank you guys for the comments, i appreciate them!
