[sunday six] summer skin

Although I’ve been a lifelong cosmetics junkie, living in Hawaii has mellowed my beauty routine and made me decidedly lower maintenance. Still, I love talking to people about their favorite products. Here are six of mine for the summer season.

1. Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel. I hate the feeling of anything heavy on my skin, especially when it’s hot out, but I still need to keep my face from drying out. I’ve used this light but very hydrating gel for years to lock in the moisture right out of the shower.
2. Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleaning System brush. Hands down the best $30 I’ve ever spent on my skin. I almost shelled out a couple hundred more on the Clarisonic version, but luckily I read about this in Allure right before. I use it a couple of times a week to keep my skin clear and super smooth.
3. Korres “Quince” Lip Butter. Lip soothing and smoothing balm with the perfect punch of pink.
4. La Mer Eye Concentrate. I’m a new convert to this stuff; it’s the best thing I’ve found for battling summer sun-induced squinting.
5. Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch sunscreen. The yummy scent reminds me of happy days spent on the North Shore last summer. Plus, it’s light enough to wear every day and gives the skin a little sheen.
6. Shu Uemura Essence Absolue. Applied to wet or dry hair, this oil leaves my hair feeling soft, smooth and moisturized. It also smells so lovely that I usually end up rubbing any excess on my skin.
