multitudinous

[wayne levin]

“Suppose we could iridesce,

like these, and lose ourselves

entirely in the universe

of shimmer—would you want

to be yourself only,

unduplicatable, doomed

to be lost? They’d prefer,

plainly, to be flashing participants,

multitudinous.”

MARK DOTY

I thought of this poem during a crazy snorkeling session yesterday. There were so many
fish, sometimes it felt like more fish than water.

  1. Awesome. I love it.

  2. Jenny, this poem and this picture are so evocative. Perfect together.

Watching the swirling clouds of silver fish on the Blue Planet series (the closest I can get to snorkeling) always me think of the word scintillating
